Meet our Nurse of the Year 2021: Kylie

A big round of applause from the Metropolitan Remand Centre team for Kylie, who is our Nurse of the Year for 2021

As Associate Health Service Manager at the Centre when the pandemic began, Kylie was responsible for managing the ‘COVID-19 Tracking’ spreadsheet that captured the enormous number of incoming patients, the number of COVID-19 swabs taken, results pending, results received and due dates for further swabs required.

It was a huge challenge, carried out in a time of great uncertainty, and Kylie demonstrated great resilience and commitment to ensuring patient care was well planned, managed and communicated to all stakeholders.

The award recognises exceptional care and/or leadership provided by a nurse or team of nurses and Kylie’s contribution is an exemplar of the dedication and skills of the entire Correct Care nursing team.

‘I’m thrilled for my efforts to have been recognised with this award,’ said Kylie. ‘It has been a challenging year for staff and patients alike, and it really was a team effort to get the system working so well.’
