Continually improving the level of care we offer our patients is something we care deeply about at CCA, so we were delighted to have had our efforts endorsed by assessors from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) in a periodic review in September 2021.
Assessed across a number of categories, the characteristics that ACHA look for include:
- a customer focus
- strong leadership
- a culture of improving
- evidence of outcomes
- striving for best practice.
“CCA achieved very good results with the requirements of the Periodic Review.” – ACHS Assessment Report August 2021
The continuation of our Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program 6 (EQuIP6) accreditation is a wonderful achievement during a challenging time, with the assessment having to be carried out virtually this year due to Covid-19 restrictions.
In the final report, assessors noted the fact that the prison service has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and that CCA staff have been at the forefront of managing the restrictions. At the time of writing the report, our response to COVID-19 had been effective in preventing any transmission and the vaccination program had achieved higher than community rates.
They also noted the strong collegial relationships between CCA staff and senior staff from Justice Health and Corrections Victoria.
Congratulations to Christine Fuller and her team for leading CCA through another successful accreditation.
